My mother is a hairstylist so she notices peoples hairstyles.
I invited her to a Milonga with me and she was horrified by the apparent lack of concern people had about how their hair looked.
I had to explain to her that in Tango, people are mostly watching the feet of the dancers so people put most of the emphasis on their shoes and footwork and not so much on their hairstyle.
Argentina is the best place to buy your dance shoes as long as you don’t mind that the shops that sell them are almost always packed with people who are loading up on great deals. A pair of beautiful dance shoes in the U.S. costs upwards of $185 but the same shoes can be had for only $60 in Buenos Aires – well that would be $60 plus the $1,000 air-fare!
I think I paid as much for all the wonderful shoes I bought in Buenos Aires as I did for my flight – ah well, you can never have too many Tango shoes.
If you can’t get to Argentina check out Diva Boutique , Kathleen will make sure you get the best value and a proper fit, even if you are ordering by phone or online.
